My friend from high school, Denis and I met up for dinner recently. In high school, a friend of ours introduced us to ChipShop, this great little English restaurant. Since then, we try to make it there at least once a year (Denis and I don’t really see hang out, so it’s nice to meet up for great food and catching up). Ever since high school, I’ve always ordered the fish and chips (Battered cod and chips). I love anything fried and the fish was always good. The batter was super crispy and the fish was yummy and well cooked. The fries were super crunchy. The fish and chips at ChipShop is a definite must try if you come here!
Denis got the usual steak and kidney pie and fries. I tried a little bit of it and it was alright. I don’t like kidney, so I am definitely not going to order kidney anytime soon. Denis likes the flavor of the steak and kidney (really meaty!). Though I didn’t like the kidney, I did like the crust (reminded me of the top of a chicken pot pie!)
For dessert, I usually get something fried (at ChipShop, you can bring in any food and they will fry it for you!) but I was too full for anything fried, so we decided on sharing something light. We ordered the rice pudding and it wasn’t that good. When I have rice pudding at home, I like to have it cold and served with whipped cream. At ChipShop and possibly England, it was served hot. So hot, I burned my tongue! There was no whipped cream and the rice pudding kind of tasted like mushy baby food. Not a fan but next time, I will definitely order something fried!

Isn’t it fun to meet up with old high school buddies and reminisce over good food? Glad you guys had a good time, and this place really fries anything you bring in? That’s pretty awesome! I’ll have to bring them a challenge some time. Thanks for sharing! =]
